Trojans outscored 35-21 in second half as Billies pull away

HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) - Subiaco Academy looked primed to make a run at the school's first ever state championship but the Monticello defense clamped down in the second half.

The Trojans, who trailed by just a point at the half, were outscored 35-21 over the final 16 minutes as Monticello captured the 4A state championship with a 57-42 win at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Monticello forced Subiaco into 19 turnovers and held the Trojans to just 28 percent (14-50) shooting. Cash Kruger led the way for Subiaco with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Billies were paced by Tyree Nolen with 18 points while Deverick Franklin finished with 17.

The Billies dominated the glass as they won the rebounding advantage 39-26 and shot nearly 50 percent (22-of-46).
