Kentucky Glides Past Arkansas For SEC Title

Razorbacks were within nine in the final 10 minutes but Kentucky pulled away for 15-point win

NASHVILLE (KFSM) - It looked like Arkansas might make No. 1 Kentucky work for the SEC Championship game as the Razorbacks trailed nine with less than 10 minutes left but the Wildcats were not going to be denied.

Kentucky outscored Arkansas 24-15 over a nine minute stretch as they improved to 34-0 after the 78-63 win at the Bridgestone Arena.

Michael Qualls and Bobby Portis combined for 31 points while Qualls was named to the All tournament team but Kentucky shot better than 50 percent from the field and controlled the glass for the win.

Willie Cauley-Stein led Kentucky with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Andrew Harrison also scored 15 for the Wildcats while twin brother Aaron added 11 as each hit three 3-pointers.

Kentucky will be the No. 1 overall seed when the NCAA Tournament bracket is announced later today. Arkansas must await their fate but are expected to be a No. 5 seed.
