FORT SMITH (KFSM)- Joni Fields-Adams was crowned as the 2015 Miss University of Arkansas Fort Smith Saturday (March 14).
She made her first public appearance with 5NEWS and described to us the winning moment.
"Your mind is racing, your heart is racing once they called my name it still feels like a dream,” Adams said. “It really does but again I am so thankful to represent UAFS.”
The pageant was held at The Fort Smith Convention Center, but her training started all the way back in November.
"I've worked very hard,” she said. “Working out every day sometimes twice a day and eating healthy and looking up current events and keeping up my grades."
From swim suit, to talent, interview, and evening wear her efforts won her the title.
On top of the title she took home more than $12,000 in scholarships and prizes.
"I'll be going to Miss Arkansas in July,” she said. “After Miss Arkansas is Miss America."
The Miss Arkansas pageant is in Hot Springs.
Adams also serves as a 5NEWS camera operator.
