BENTONVILLE (KFSM) – Authorities have released the name of the motorcycle driver who died in a Bentonville crash on Tuesday morning (March 17).
The Bentonville Police Department is searching for a suspect involved the deadly hit-and-run incident that left the scene.
Aron Nathanial Romero, 33, of Centerton was identified as the dead motorcycle driver, authorities said. He was driving a 2003 Honda XTR when the incident took place.
On Tuesday at 6:54 a.m., officers were sent to Southwest Regional Airport Road and Southwest Sunbrooke Street for a motorcycle crash, according to a news release.
The motorcycle driver was traveling east in the inside lane of traffic when it struck the rear of a stopped vehicle, authorities said. Romero was then thrown into the westbound lane of traffic and hit by another vehicle, police said. The stopped vehicle was a 2001 Honda Accord, police said. That driver was not injured.
That vehicle did not stop but kept going west after striking Romero, the release states. The driver of the bike was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville where he died, police said.
Before he died, Romero was attempting to start an American Legion chapter in Centerton, according to Cedarville Mayor Bill Edwards.
The Bentonville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver that left the accident site. The vehicle (pictured above) is a dark four-door passenger car, according to the release. Authorities said they believe the car may be a 1999 – 2003 Acura TL, but the investigation is ongoing.
