FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Two men were arrested Friday (April 3), during a traffic stop after police say they found drugs and a gun inside the vehicle.

According to police, David Strider (36) was pulled over for a damaged windshield and littering on South School Street in Fayetteville. While speaking with police, the officer said he smelled an order of intoxicants coming from inside the car. That’s when the officer observed a open beer in the console, according to the police report.

The report states, the officer asked Strider if he had been drinking and asked him to exit the car to ensure he was not impaired. As the man exited the car, the officer observed the passenger, identified as Dustin Pendergraft (29) of Rogers, turn his back and place a “baggy” containing a crystal like substance, suspected methamphetamine into is mouth, according to police.

Police then searched the car and found 42.5 grams of meth, set of digital scales and a 9mm hand gun with ammunition.

Strider and Pendergraft were arrested and booked into the Washington County Detention Center.

Strider was arrested on a number of charges including possession of a controlled substance and firearm. He has since been released on a $5,000 bond.

His 8.1 hearing is set for Monday (April 6), at Washington County Circuit Court.

The passenger, Pendergraft, was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest along with several other charges. His 8.1 hearing is also set for Monday (April 6), at Washington County Circuit Court.
