ROLAND (KFSM)- A doctor in Roland, Oklahoma has been stripped of his ability to prescribe narcotics after investigators said they found he was distributing large amounts of those medications against medical code.

According to investigators with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the prescriptions were overseen by Dr. Ronald Myers at The Wellness Clinic in Roland.

“I'm the leading advocate in the United States of America for chronic pain patients,” Myers said. “That's who you're talking to. That's why I am in trouble right now in the state of Oklahoma because I call it the most racist state in the United States. I have no desire to practice medicine in the state anymore."

Investigators said Myers won't be able to write prescriptions for narcotics for a year and will have to pay a $25,000 fine.

Myers said he's innocent and everything investigators are saying about him is wrong.

According to Mark Woodward, who's the spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the agency's investigation into Myers started in 2013 after they received a tip. Woodward said the bureau sent undercover agents to The Wellness Clinic of Roland.

“Some of those violations that we found during our investigation included prescribing large quantities of controlled drugs like hydrocodone and other painkillers to patients who had never been examined,” Woodward said.

Woodward said the patients who were examine didn't demonstrate a legitimate need for the narcotic prescriptions.

"There were also prescriptions that were pre-signed by the physician prior to the patients ever being examined,” Woodward said.

According to Woodward, the bureau's investigation is not criminal. Myers said he plans to appeal all the accusations made against him.

The Wellness Clinic of Roland is now St. Madron Medical Clinic. The director of the new clinic, Daren Brewer, said Myers doesn't work for them and the Wellness Clinic of Roland and his business are not association to each other.
