VAN BUREN (KFSM) – The Van Buren Planning Commission is meeting Tuesday (April 7) to talk about adding more sidewalks to area neighborhoods.

City planners said it’s important they begin requiring sidewalks in new subdivisions as well as into the plans for any future commercial development around town.

The planning commission will also talk about how to repair existing sidewalks as well as how to construct sidewalks in already-established neighborhoods.

For the past several months, a four-member group has been studying the city’s current sidewalk regulations and exploring how to expand the system. This, after citizens came forward asking the city to include more sidewalks.

The Van Buren Planning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the city’s municipal complex on Broadway.
