Benintendi Blasts Hogs Past Delta Devils

Arkansas outfielder pushes home run total to 11 as Razorbacks rout Mississippi Valley State

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Andrew Benintendi has been a tough out all season for opposing pitchers. Mississippi Valley State couldn't get the Arkansas outfielder out on Wednesday.

Benintendi belted a pair of home runs, including an inside the park home run, as he pushed his season total to 11 and Arkansas routed the Delta Devils 14-0 to sweep the two game series.

The Arkansas sophomore went 3-of-3 and walked twice as he scored five runs and drove in three. The 11 home runs ties Benintendi with three other players with the national lead.

Carson Shaddy provided a grand slam for the Razorbacks in the fifth inning as that highlighted his two hit day while Tyler Spoon drove in three runs to cap a huge series for the Van Buren product.

James Teague picked up the win for Arkansas as he threw four innings while allowing just two hits and struck out six.

Arkansas will host Kentucky for a three game series at Baum Stadium beginning on Friday.
