LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) – Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a bill on Wednesday (April 8) allowing Arkansas distillers to produce hard cider, according to legislative records.

Hutchinson signed the bill at 2:14 p.m. on Wednesday. It was originally known as SB 1032, but once signed into law, it became known as Act 1237, legislative records state.

The new hard cider law passed the Senate on March 25 with a vote of 30-1 but then the House voted it down on March 30 with a tally of 50-9, officials said.

It was brought up for a second vote in the House on March 31 and passed with a tally of 58-16.

Sen. John Woods, R-Springdale, filed the legislation on March 9, legislative records state.
