EUREKA SPRINGS (KFSM)– Film lovers rejoice! The Eureka Springs Indie Film Festival will be kicking off later this month.

It all begins on Wednesday, April 22 and will continue through Saturday. An opening reception at FRESH Bistro will happen from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. that is open to the public.

More than 80 films were submitted to the festival, with 46 films chosen as final selections for screening and potential awards.

Films range from three-minute shorts to full-length features covering multiple genres: Drama, comedy, documentary, foreign films, art films, animation and sci-fi.

The Eureka Springs Film Festival has a special emphasis on Women in Film, Young Filmmakers, Films Made in Arkansas, and new this year– films Made Only On Mobile Devices.

Special screening include Bill Solleder’s popular “Arkansas Shorts” and student films, AETN’s “Loupe” series, and workshops by filmmakers Crystal Us and Bayou Bennett.

A three-day judging process determined the winners of this years festival. Winners will be announced Saturday at the Indie Award Show at The Auditorium, followed by an after party at K.J.’s Caribe Cantina and Bar.

Awards include Gold and Silver cash prizes from $500 to $200. A total of 28 awards will be presented this year during the Indie Award Show. Each year, a local artist creates a one-of-a-kind Indie Statue for the Gold Winners. This year’s artist is teenager Ethan Robison, who designed and created the statue using 3-D technology.

A full-access pass to all screening and parties, workshops and the award show is $30. Individual select day passes are available for $15.
