Bobby Portis Enters NBA Draft

Portis will forgo his final two years at Arkansas after three weeks of deliberation.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- SEC Player of the Year Bobby Portis announced on Twitter Tuesday that he will forgo his junior season and enter the NBA draft.

Portis released this statement via Twitter:

“Unbelievable experience for me at the University of Arkansas these past two years. The love I have for this program is unconditional but I’ve decided to forgo my junior year of college to take the next step and enter into the NBA draft. Special thanks to God, my family, the coaching staff, the athletic department, the education faculty, my teammates, Jeff Long and the fans. Without all of you none of this is possible #WPS4EVA”

Portis led the Razorbacks to their best season in two decades and became just the second Razorback ever to be named SEC Player of the Year. He averaged a team-high 17.8 points and 8.7 rebounds a game along with a league-best 56.3 field goal percentage. Arkansas lost in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to North Carolina and finished the season 27-9, their most wins since 1994-1995.

Here is a list of his Arkansas school records/ accomplishments:

• First player in program history with five straight double-doubles in SEC regular season action.
• Program record nine double-doubles in SEC play.
• First player in program history with 30 points and 10 rebounds in an SEC game against Vanderbilt with 32 points and 11 boards.
• First player since 1998 with 20 points and 15 rebounds in an SEC game against LSU with 21 points and a career-high 15 boards.
• First player in program history to go for 18+ points and 7+ rebounds in six straight games since Corliss Williamson’s sophomore season in 1994.
• Just the fifth player to record multiple 30-point games in his career against SEC opponents, joining

Michael Qualls is expected to make a decision on his future soon. The draft deadline is April 26.
