SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) — Nearly 800 people are coming together in the River Valley for United Way’s Day of Caring!
It’s a volunteer-based opportunity that enables individuals to put their skills and talents to use to benefit non-profit organizations across the area. Volunteers tackle projects for those organizations that would otherwise cost them valuable dollars.
Projects will be happening Tuesday (April 14) in Alma, Barling, Booneville, Charleston, Fort Smith, Greenwood, Lavaca, Mansfield, Mulberry, Ozark, Paris, Poteau and Van Buren for a total of 91 projects!
Groups will be doing things like painting, mulching, landscaping, making repairs to roofs, planting flowers and many other activities that the organizations need done.
In Fort Smith, the event kicked off with a breakfast at Golden Corral with Mayor Sandy Sanders.
Booneville’s breakfast was held at the Jeral L. Hampton Meeting Place. In Charleston, volunteers will have a lunch at Greenhurst. The city of Ozark will also hold a luncheon at the Ozark Area Youth Organization.
