TONTITOWN (KFSM) - A motorcyclist fled police in Tontitown exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour on Tuesday evening (April 14) before crashing into a barbed wire fence, authorities say.
Jason C. Hulse, 35, of Fayetteville was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on April 15 at 10 a.m., and he faces charges of possession of meth or cocaine with intent to deliver, fleeing, battery, careless driving and more, according to jail records.
At 11:44 p.m. on Tuesday, Tontitown Police Officer Corey Jenison used radar and found Hulse to be driving 78 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone on West Henri De Tonti Boulevard, a news release states. Jenison gave chase, and Hulse turned south onto South Pianalto Road, accelerating to speeds in the triple digits, police said.
Hulse crossed a small bridge, and his motorcycle bottomed out, causing sparks, according to the release. After that, he failed to make a sharp left curve, crashing into a barbed wire fence, police said.
The suspect fled on foot but was tased and later arrested after a struggle, police said.
Jenison told 5NEWS the chase was just another reminder as to why he loves his job. He said it will not impact his future outlook on the job.
“Its one of the reasons that got me in this job," Jenison said. "So, [the chase] doesn’t change it. It isn’t something I anticipated on a Tuesday night, but that is part of the job.”
According to the release, Hulse had methamphetamine and oxycodone in his possession.
No bond has been set for the suspect, and his next court date is scheduled for April 17 at 7:45 a.m.
