Rogers Trio Signs To Division I Schools

Three Rogers athletes commit to Division I schools on signing day.

ROGERS (KFSM) - Seniors all over are announcing where they'll be heading, but it was a big day for Rogers Athletics. Three athletes all signed to division I colleges. Ian Smith and Christian Liddell for track and cross country, and Kimi Davis for volleyball.

"Just a big sense of accomplishment," Liddell said. "I've been working four years for this. It just feels really good to have everything come together, and finally sign that paper."

"It's really exciting, and I'm kind of relieved to know where I'm going now," Smith said. "And it's kind of sad also to think about where I'm going to be in four months, away from home and everything."

One of them isn't going too far away from home. Davis will be heading down the road to the University of Arkansas to join the Hog's volleyball team.

"It's awesome that I'm like home grown talent," Davis said. "That I get to represent the school that's only 20 minutes away."

Signing on that line was what they've always been waiting for.

"I'm ready to work with them, and just fulfill my dream that I've always want to be a Razorback," Davis said.

Smith and Liddell had other reasons for their choices.

"I just meshed really well with the coaches and the team. It just felt like home. I could really see myself going to school there next year," Liddell said.

"They have a good honors college, and I feel like that's a good place where I can get my name out to get into a good medical school," Smith said.

No matter why they choice what university they are going to, one thing is the same. They are all ready to start competing at the next level.

"I'm just ready to go, and ready to play with them," Davis said.
