FARMINGTON (KFSM) – A man is recovering Saturday (Apr. 18th) for what Farmington police describe as an early stabbing that left the victim with multiple lacerations to his side.

Cpl. Jeff Kimball says a fight happened between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the town’s event center between two men. A few words were exchanged, before the victim tried to break up the fight and was instead stabbed twice in his ribcage area, according to police. Emergency responders transported him to Washington Regional Medical Center where he was later released.

“As of right now we don’t have any suspects because the victim isn’t able to provide a lot of information,” Farmington Police Cpl. Kimball tells 5NEWS. “We don’t believe it is gang related. It sounds like a fight someone tried to break up. Stuff like this happens all the time.”

Police tell 5NEWS they can’t release too much information because it’s ongoing investigation. Farmington detectives have been assigned to crack the case.

If anyone has information on Saturday’s stabbing, they are encouraged to call the Farmington Police Department.
