BENTONVILLE (KFSM)- Cathy Torres, who is facing murder and rape charges in connection with her 6-year-old son’s death, filed an Order of Protection against her husband, Mauricio Torres, following the child death on March 30, according to court records.

Mauricio Torres is also facing murder and rape charges in the death of Mauricio Isaiah Torres, court records show. The couple’s arraignment is scheduled for May 4 and until then they are being held without bond at the Benton County Detention Center.

Cathy Torres filed the Order of Protection three days before she and her husband were arrested on April 6 by the Bella Vista Police Department, according to court records.

The Order of Protection states that Mauricio Torres would call his wife worthless and referred to Isaiah’s sisters as lazy and fat. According to Cathy Torres’ account, her husband purposely isolated her and their children from outsiders and threatened to kill her and bury her in the backyard if she ever left him or called police.

Cathy Torres also states her husband had pulled her hair out, choked her and left her with several bruises, according to the Protection Order.

According to the documents, Cathy Torres attributed Isaiah’s death to her husband’s abuse. She states in the Protection Order that she was afraid to speak with police because she knew Maurice Torres would want to know what she told investigators. Cathy Torres also states her husband had been seen walking their neighborhood with a big stick.

The couple’s two daughters, who are 6 and 8-years-old, were put in the custody of the Department of Human Service’s following Isaiah’s death, according to police.

Documents released by DHS show the agency investigated two allegations regarding Isaiah prior to his death, but both were determined to be unsubstantiated.

Incidents reports from the Jonesboro Police Department also show Mauricio Torres had been accused of rape twice in 2004 by a four-year-old girl.
