HOT SPRINGS (KTHV) – Two buffalo are still roaming Hot Springs.

Police said they believe the animals are still in the general area where they originally were, but the area is densely wooded.

An entire herd of the large mammals escaped their enclosure on April 16, and law enforcement spent that the afternoon trying to contain them. By that evening, four were captured. As to how the buffalo got out of their pen, the police chief said he believes someone accidentally left a gate open.

The owner has apparently had the buffalo since they were calves and has committed himself to finding the missing two, according to the city of Hot Springs.
