Late Rally Leads Hogs In Win Over Mississippi State

With two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning and trailing 6-5, Joe Serrano and Clark Eagan delivered back-to-back RBIs to give the Hogs a 7-6 win.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- With two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning and trailing 6-5, the Arkansas baseball team rallied with two runs and beat Mississippi State 7-6 at Baum Stadium Friday night in the first of a three-game series.

After the Bulldogs went ahead on a Wes Rae two-run home run in the top of the eighth, Clark Eagan and Joe Serrano delivered back-to-back RBIs to give the Hogs the lead for good. It was the fifth time in the last six wins the Razorbacks rallied for the victory.

Arkansas' big inning came in the third when they scored four runs after Mississippi State took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

The Razorbacks held a 5-1 lead in the fifth inning when the Bulldogs battled back.

A Rea two-run single got Mississippi State within 5-4 in the sixth inning.

Zach Jackson got the win on the mound for the Razorbacks and pitched 3 2/3 solid innings in relief for starter Trey Killian.

Arkansas (25-17, 10-9 SEC) has now won 10 of its last 12 games. Game two with Mississippi State is Saturday at 6:05 at Baum Stadium.
