Offense Shines For Hogs In Red-White Game

Walkers runs up nearly 200 yards as focal back in annual spring game

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins got the afternoon off on Saturday but that left a huge hole for Kody Walker to fill.

Walker rushed for 174 yards on 26 attempts and found the end zone three times as Red handled White 62-18 in Arkansas's annual spring game.

The red team was comprised of the starting offense and defense while the white team was filled out with the backups.

Brandon Allen was crisp for the starting offense as the fifth year senior was 17-of-21 passing for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Keon Hatcher did most of the damage as he had touchdown catches of 65 and 14 yards.

"I think this whole team has a certain amount of confidence where we know we can beat any team on any given Saturday and I think that confidence is not cockiness," Allen said. "It's us having a belief in ourselves and we know how good we can be."

Tight ends Jeremy Sprinkle and Hunter Henry led the way with four catches each while Sprinkle provided the game's first score, a four yard connection with Allen.

"We're ahead leaving this last practice than we were a year ago and I know we're a lot further than we were two years ago so it's a fun time to be in the program," Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said.

Josh Harris led the White defense with seven solo tackles and 14 overall while Dwayne Eugene added nine stops.

Arkansas's starting offense failed to score on just three of their 12 possessions, two of which resulted in missed field goals.

The Red team totals 467 yards of offense while the White squad was held to just 44 yards on 28 plays.

Austin Allen might have locked up the back up quarterback spot as he completed 8-of-12 passes while playing for both teams for 57 yards and a score while Rafe Peavey was just 1-of-5 for two yards. Freshman Ty Storey saw action late in the scrimmage and was 2-of-5 for 14 yards passing.
