FRANKLIN COUNTY (KFSM) - County Judge of Franklin County Rickey Bowman has declared a state of emergency seeking help from the state.

Several roads were flooded and trees and tree limbs surrounded roads and highways.

Emergency crews in Franklin County rescued a man from floodwaters Saturday, (May 9).

One person was inside a truck at Cat Holler Road, just north of Ozark. Six other people throughout the county were also rescued, according to Franklin County emergency manager Fred Mullen.

"Doing 7 rescues is probably about four or five more than we typically do in this kind of event, so that was a little bit more demanding for us -- but our guys pulled through and did a good job on that," Mullen said.

Hillbilly Lane in Ozark collapsed due to overflowing water in the Townbranch Creek, causing it to be closed for most of the day Sunday (May 10). However, within a matter of hours, crews temporarily fixed the road. Mayor T.R. McNutt said Ozark Senior High School is just about a mile from where the road collapsed.

High waters caused Turner Bend Bridge above the Mulberry River to be closed for nearly 12 hours, according to Sheriff Anthony Boen.
