ATHENS, GA (KFSM) – The series opener at Georgia did not go the way Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn was hoping. The past two games did.

For the second straight day, Arkansas exploded in the early innings as they wrapped up the SEC series and the regular season with an 8-1 win at Georgia.

Arkansas scored all eight runs in the first three innings, three coming in the first, as they were in complete control from the start. Tyler Spoon drove in a pair in the first with a single to right then Brett McAfee pushed the lead to 7-0 in the third with a two run single to left.

Andrew Benintendi picked up a pair of hits and drew a walk as he ended the season hitting .415 to claim the SEC batting title.

James Teague picked up the win as the Arkansas stater threw four and a 1/3 innings while allowing just three hits. Georgia’s Robert Tyler was roughed up in the loss as the right hander allowed eight runs on six hits in just two and 2/3 innings of work.

Arkansas will be the No. 5 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament, which starts on Tuesday in Hoover, Ala.
