Yet another round of showers and thunderstorms will affect the area midweek with an additional 1-3″ of rainfall possible. The rain will be heaviest in the morning on Wednesday with showers continuing into the mid-morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Severe weather is unlikely as the upper level winds remain weak; however, the weak upper level winds will also cause slow moving storms and higher than normal rainfall totals.

Wednesday’s Weather

  • Rain arrives after 2am with thunderstorms
  • Rain continues into morning drive with flooding risk
  • Overall risk of severe weather is low
  • Most rain over at Noon Wednesday
  • Rain totals 1-3″

Here’s a look at how the forecast plays out in the next 24 hours…

2AM Wednesday: A line of showers and thunderstorms with some gusty winds on the leading edge of the line will move into our area. There is a low severe risk on the leading edge of the line.

The risk for severe weather is low because of the lack of energy in the upper level winds. Weak winds mean slower storms. Should we see any severe weather it would be on the leading edge of the line of storms moving in.

By late Wednesday, the front will have pushed into south Oklahoma and into Texas allowing drier and more stable air to take over in our area for at least a day or so on Thursday into Friday. More wet weather is expected over the weekend and again the risk is going to be for flash flooding with a lower severe weather risk.
