POPE COUNTY (KFSM) – A 40-year-old man was killed in a Pope County crash that took place on Monday (May 18) near Russellville at 11:25 p.m., authorities say.

Carl Boyster, 40, of Austin was identified as the man who was killed in the crash, according to Arkansas State Police (ASP).

He was the passenger in a vehicle being driven by 35-year-old Crystal Crouch, police said. She was driving east on Arkansas 124 nearly four miles from Russellville when she lost control, and the vehicle left the road toward the south, according to a crash report from ASP.

The vehicle struck a culvert and overturned, police said.

The report states that Crouch was injured in the crash and taken to Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

On Monday evening, a 911 call was received reporting a rollover accident with entrapment. The River Valley Leader reported that after the crash the driver  exited the vehicle, called authorities and informed them that her passenger was trapped, and the vehicle was on fire.

According to the River Valley Leader, the fire was later put out, and Boyster’s body was recovered.
