HOOVER, ALA. (KFSM) – The SEC tournament began Arkansas had hoped but the ending certainly did not.
After winning their first two games in dramatic fashion, the Razorbacks were blown out in the final next two games including a 10-0 seven inning run rule loss to Florida in an elimination game against Florida on Friday night.
Florida avenged Wednesday’s loss to the Razorbacks as Arkansas got a two-run home run from Bobby Wernes in the top of the ninth inning to complete a wild comeback.
The Razorbacks will now have wait until Monday to hear their postseason fate.
Arkansas trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the third and that’s when Florida blew the game open. The Gators plated five runs with two coming on an error by Arkansas’s Cullen Gassaway. The Razorbacks were doomed by fielding miscues Thursday night as they committed three in the first inning against LSU, leading to four Tigers runs.
The Razorbacks were forced to use four pitchers over the seven innings as starter Dominic Taccolini was chased after just two innings of work as he allowed five runs on four hits and walked a pair. Florida’s A.J. Puk threw a complete game shutout while striking out 11 and walked three and allowed just three hits.
