FRANKLIN COUNTY (KFSM) -- Search and rescue crews located a missing Van Buren man after he disappeared near the Mulberry River overnight, according to Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen.

The man's girlfriend reported him missing around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning (May 22nd), Sheriff Boen said. Dozens of search and rescue crew members searched the surrounding area both on foot and ATV's.

Lance Reese, who is in his 50's, was camping near the Mulberry with family and friends decided to go for a ride on his 4-wheeler overnight. Due to the heavy amount of rain the area has recently received, the 4-wheeler got stuck in the mud. The man abandoned the 4-wheeler and was then on foot, trying to find his way back to his campsite in the dark, said Sheriff Boen.

He was eventually found by search and rescue crews just after 7:00 a.m. Friday morning. He was not near his campsite when crews found him.

Paramedics are on scene checking him out at this time, said Sheriff Boen. He is in stable condition and should not need to be taken to a hospital.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department wants to remind campers to use caution this Memorial Day Weekend due to the heavy amount of rain the area has both received in the past few days and is expecting over the weekend.
