Bentonville Wins Back-To-Back 7A Soccer Titles

Bentonville wins second straight 7A boys soccer title in 1-0 win over Northside.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Bentonville boys soccer team wins back-to-back 7A soccer titles with a 1-0 win over Northside Saturday at Razorback Field.

The one goal of the game came from Tiger's senior defender Bennett Moehring with 11 minutes left in the game.

The two teams battled it out on several missed goal chances through the first 69 minutes of play. Bentonville was the one who came out on top in this one on their loan goal.

Bentonville's senior midfield Josh Howard was named most valuable player of the game.

"There is nothing to be ashamed of," Northside coach Mauricio Maciel said. "It was an excellent season for us. We were a little young at the end."

"The emotions are high," Northside senior Martin Mejia said. "We are all sad, disappointed in ourselves. We put out a good game and we're just sad because we thought we were going to win this. We put up a good fight."

"I certainly enjoyed this one more than I did last year," Bentonville coach Mike Vevany said. "Last year it was more of a sense of relief, been the first time in a couple years we had gotten back here."

"Euphoric," Howard said. "It's pretty amazing. Not a lot of teams do that, especially for us being a really tight knit group."
