FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- Add another title to the trophy case at Greenwood. The Lady Bulldogs beat Sheridan 3-0 at Bogle Park Saturday morning to win the 6A softball state championship.

The championship is the 31st overall in Greenwood school history, but the first softball title since 1998.

Hits were at a premium in the first half of the game until Greenwood opened things up in the fifth inning.

Sophomore Sydney Parker hit a two-run home run to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

"We were in the same situation in the semifinals against Benton," Parker said. "I was up to bat and we had a runner on second. I knew I had to do my job and get a base hit but it ended up being more."

Greenwood added its third run in the sixth inning thanks to a throwing error, allowing Hannah Booker to score.

Junior pitcher Victoria Taylor was named the championship game MVP after pitching a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts and allowing just two hits.

"We knew that when one girl got a hit it would keep going," Taylor said. "As long as one girl got on we knew we could do it. We had confidence."
