Lady Panthers Repeat As 6A Soccer Champs

Freshman Megan Hutto named MVP after scoring game’s lone goal

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Defending a state championship is tough. Doing so with a new coach is even harder. That didn't seem to matter to Siloam Springs.

The Lady Panthers got a first half goal from Maycee Lance on an assist from freshman Megan Hutto and that was enough as they held off Searcy 1-0 for the 6A state championship.

"It's crazy," Hutto said. "We just came out 110 percent and just worked really hard and showed them what we've got, what we had."

Hutto was named the game's most valuable player.

Siloam Springs rolled to a No. 1 seed in the tournament under first year coach Chuck Jones and they had plenty of confidence in repeating.

"I knew that as soon as we scored a goal the game was ours," Siloam Springs Kaylie Lane said. "I knew from the beginning that the game was ours just from watching the other team but when we scored that first goal the other team was done. We had it in the bag."
