Siloam Springs Falls Short Of 6A Soccer Title

Russellville’s Allen finds the net twice as Cyclones repeat as 6A champions

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Siloam Springs looked poised to snatch the 6A boys soccer title away from the defending state champion but Russellville came storming back.

The Cyclones got a pair of goals late in the first half from Taylor Allen as Russellville defended it's state championship with a 2-1 win at Razorback Field.

With the game tied at 1-1, Allen's header deflected off the Siloam Springs' keeper and off the right post before bouncing right back to Allen's feet. He found the back of the net for the eventual game winner.

"It is really disappointing but, you know, you have to take what you get," Siloam Springs Luis Andrade said.

Siloam Springs took an early 1-0 lead as Aldair Umana beat the Russellville keeper in the first half.

"I couldn't be more proud of these kids," Siloam Springs coach Chuck Jones said. "They gave it everything they had. We knew Russellville was a tough team, defending state champs and the boys played with their heart. They left it on the field. I couldn't ask any more of them. I'm so proud of them."
