(FORT SMITH) – Army Corps of Engineers held a news conference with city leaders and the street department Sunday (May 24) regarding water levels at the Arkansas River.
Officials said the Arkansas River will be cresting at 33 feet sometime between midnight (Monday, May 25) and midnight (Tuesday, May 26).
They said the river is 10 feet above flood stage. Residents in the neighborhood of Riverlyn have been warned of the rising water levels.
Swift water rescue teams are standing by.
