FORT SMITH (KFSM)- After several days of Muttin’ Bustin’, bull riding and endless entertainment at Kay Rodgers Park, the Old Fort Days Rodeo has come to an end.

While thousands of people from all over the world attended the rodeo, organizers said the turnout was lower this year than years past, and they’re blaming it on the rain. Organizers said Wednesday (May 27) and Saturday (May 30) were the busiest days at the event. 5NEWS asked the Rodeo Chairman Ron Scamardo how this year’s turnout compared to last year’s.

“This week the way the weather has been, probably anywhere between 25,000 to 30,000 people,” Scamardo said. “Last year we had about 39,000 in attendance. We were hoping for over that 40,000 mark. I think if the weather hadn’t been bad we probably would have reached that.”

Competitors and vendors spent Sunday morning (May 31) cleaning up the venue before heading back home.
