FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – The court date for two former Razorback golfers accused of video voyeurism has been reset, officials say.
Nicolas Echavarria, 20, and Taylor Moore, 21, were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday (June 1) at 7:45 a.m., but their hearing was reset to June 8, according to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Both were arrested on May 6 and face a charge of video voyeurism. They were suspended from the Razorback golf program indefinitely after being taken into custody.
Echavarria is from Medellin, Colombia. Moore is from Edmond, Oklahoma.
On April 18, the victim called police to report a rape, authorities said. The victim said that on April 11 she had multiple alcoholic drinks at various bars on Dickson Street, according to an arrest report. She said that while on Dickson Street, she met the suspects and went with them, police said. She knew both, and they were friends of hers, according to the report.
The victim said she was too drunk to drive, and she was given a ride by the suspects to Moore’s home, according to the report. The victim also told police she was under the impression she was going to spend the night there and be taken home in the morning, authorities said.
The victim was given a large golf shirt to wear at the home, and she passed out on the couch multiple times, police said. At one point, she recalled being carried to Moore’s room and seeing a flash of light, according to the report. Authorities said she suspected Moore had taken pictures of her.
During the investigation, phones from Moore and Echavarria were seized and searched with a warrant, the report states. A sexually explicit photo was recovered from Echavarria’s phone, and Moore admitted to taking the photo with Echavarria present, according to authorities.
The victim was not aware of the photo, police said. Both suspects admitted to taking three photos of the victim that were sexually explicit, but they said they deleted two of them, according to the report.
The suspects were later taken into custody.
The University of Arkansas Athletic Department released the following statement after the arrests:
“We have become aware of a pending legal issue involving two men’s golf student-athletes. The student-athletes have been suspended indefinitely from the golf program.”
Echavarria and Moore both bonded out of jail the same day they were booked in, detention center records state. Their bond had been set at $2,500.
