RUSSELLVILLE (KFSM) – The Corps of Engineers, Russellville Project Office closed Piney Bay and Shoal Bay beaches on Lake Dardanelle Thursday (June 4), citing an increased level of E. coli.
The levels found during a routine testing by the Arkansas Department of Health were diagnosed as “higher than acceptable” by the Corps of Engineers.
Arkansas Department of Health officials said the high levels of bacteria could be a result of run-off from heavy rains.
Once bacteria levels are within a certain range, then the beaches will reopen.
