(KCNC) – A Colorado Springs mother was ticketed after being accused of leaving her children inside an SUV while she went to a tanning salon.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon (June 2) when temperatures outside reached 85 degrees.
The children — ages eight, 10 and 18-months — were screaming for help when someone in the parking lot heard them and called police, authorities said.
Officers found the mother nine minutes after arriving at the scene. She told them she was at a nearby tanning salon.
“If you’re parked here where we are, you’re going to the gym or to the tanning salon; then you’re in there for longer then you should have your kids in the car,” witness Patricia Holland said.
