ROGERS (KFSM) – The Rogers City Council is scheduled to hear a proposal on the vacant city attorney position at its June 23 meeting, officials say.

On Monday (June 8), a board of city leaders, including Alderman Clay Kendall, met to discuss possible changes to the city attorney position. Some changes include altering the job duties of the position and redefining the overall role of the city attorney.

The last Rogers City Attorney was Ben Lipscomb, and he stepped down after filing a lawsuit against the city and receiving a $390,000 settlement in January.

According to Kendall, after Lipscomb stepped down, the duties of the Rogers City Attorney were transferred to other city staff. The proposal that Kendall and other city leaders will present on June 23 will include discussing which duties the city attorney will maintain, and which will go to other city personnel.
