FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Fayetteville police arrested a suspect they believe was involved in a shooting that wounded a man on Thursday morning (June 11), authorities say.

51-year-old John Vincent Cly of Fayetteville is facing charges of attempted capital murder. Cly was also found to be with possession of more than 28 grams of methamphetamine and possession of a stolen firearm.

Online criminal records indicate Cly has also been arrested in Texas and Kansas.

Police said the incident happened at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Pines Apartments on 1855 West Deane Street.

The family of the man who was shot has identified the victim as Rob Archer.

Archer was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center before being released in "good" condition.

Tiamont Evans said he witnessed the event.

"I was getting ready to go inside, and I heard a bang," Evans said. "I thought it was fireworks. It is close to the 4th of July, so I assumed somebody might be setting off fireworks. But then I looked over that way, and that's when I saw the guy hobbling around."

According to a different eyewitness, an altercation began after an argument about a woman erupted between Archer and Cly. The witness told 5NEWS that Cly got into his black Toyota vehicle and then shot at the victim multiple times.

A family member of Archer's said he was watching "Law and Order" at the time of the shooting. He thought the gunshots were from the television show until Archer came through the door and said, "Help! I've been shot!"

The case is still under investigation.
