SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) – A Fort Smith man was arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $20,000 worth of auto parts, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.

Houston Sparkman, 21, was arrested on June 11 and booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. He faces charges of breaking or entering and theft of property, according to jail records.

The victim parked his trailer in a Choctaw Casino parking lot on May 30 on the Arkansas side and rented a room at the hotel. The trailer was stolen overnight and reported the next morning, according to a news release.

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office said surveillance footage showed the trailer being taken by a suspect driving an older model Ford F-150 pickup truck.

At 1:30 p.m. on that same day the trailer was stolen, it was found in Pocola near the Arkansas border. It was empty, according to the release.

The auto parts were later recovered, and Sparkman was taken into custody, authorities said.

As of 11 a.m. on Tuesday (June 16), Sparkman had not bonded out of jail, according to detention center records.
