FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The city of Fayetteville will make use of multiple goats to clear out poison ivy from Wilson Park, officials say.

Greedy Goats of Northwest Arkansas has partnered with Fayetteville to help clear out the plants.

The goats will be at the park from June 23 - July 3 and will be out during the day from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., according to a news release.

In addition to ridding the park of poison ivy, the goats will munch up honeysuckle, privet and other invasive plants. The animals will be focusing on the southwest corner of the park.

While the goats are present at the park, a temporary electric fence will be put up for the safety of the goats, the release states.

In 2014, volunteers in Fayetteville spent 1,400 hours removing invasive plants from park lands. Afterwards, the city started looking for other creative ways to solve invasive plant problems. So, this year the city will be using goats to munch on invasive plants.
