Antioch In The Park

FORT SMITH (KFSM)- The Child Summer Hunger Organization is teaming up with the River Valley Regional Food Bank to keep kids in the area fed this summer.

An estimated 800 families gathered at Martin Luther King Park for Antioch in the Park on Saturday (June 20).

“These people are wonderful,” Lisa Jennings, recipient said.

The event took place from 10 a.m. until noon.

Here, families in need could pick up bags of food. All they had had to do was register with their name, address and social security card.

“It feels wonderful,” Charolette Tidwell, organizer said. “The crowd is excited; we are excited to have them and have some sort of impact for those families and those children.”

Tidwell said more than 32,000 pounds was distributed. Organizers are already planning two more Antioch in the Park events on July 18 and August 15.
