OZARK (KFSM) -- This would have been the third year for Thunder on the Mountain, but it was canceled in the midst of a class-action lawsuit.

Country singer Lance Carpenter organized Music on the Mulberry in just 12 days.

"We're about to have a party this weekend at Byrd’s Adventure Center,” Carpenter said.

When he found out Thunder on the Mountain was canceled, Carpenter knew he wanted to do something about it.

“This is all about turning a bad situation into a positive situation,” he said.

Carpenter is originally from Ozark, and said he wanted to include a lot of local bands in the festival. He has 24 bands lined up ready to sing, including Keith Anderson, Back Road Anthem and Ricochet, just to name a few.

"I’m just excited -- I’ll be playing with my band Saturday night and we're just going to have a great time,” he added.

Some people are already camping out and relaxing in the Mulberry River, waiting for the bands to take the stage.

Jeff Brown and his family are here for a good time.

“It's just a good time for family -- hanging out, great camping, great people,” Brown.

Carpenter is imagining what it would be like to have 12 months to plan the festival, instead of just 12 days.

"As long as people show up and have a good time, and hopefully we'll get some feedback on what they liked and what they didn't like. And if this is a success and we can do it again next year -- have a year to plan, watch out -- who knows who will be here next year,” Carpenter said.

About 1000 people are expected to show up to the festival throughout the weekend and it all begins Friday night.

Tickets are available online and at the gate. For more information, click here.
