OZARK (KFSM) – Hundreds of people turned out for the first-ever Music on the Mulberry – a festival that was organized in 12 days.
When Thunder on the Mountain was canceled, one of the artists set to perform decided to keep the party going.
Country singer Lance Carpenter, who is originally from Ozark, organized the event. Twenty-four bands took the stage, including Keith Anderson, Kevin Fowler, Back Road Anthem and Ricochet.
“These folks -- they write songs that tell stories,” festival-goer Jim Carpenter said Sunday (June 28).
And Lance said those stories are going to be heard by more than fans.
“We have one of the major artists in Nashville who sent down scouts to check out all the unsigned artists. I just told a couple of the bands… I know there’s going to be a couple guys getting a call,” he said.
Fans described the atmosphere as relaxed and easy going.
Carpenter said he's already thinking about doing it all again next year.
“We don't want to go too big either -- we want to keep it like this. We want to keep it raw and intimate, and allow these artists to have that one-on-one experience with the fans and to give them something that every festival doesn't give them -- that one-on-one intimate feeling,” Carpenter said.
