POTEAU (KFSM)- Team Poteau has set up a fireworks stand in the Walls Bargain Center parking lot to raise money for Special Olympics games this summer and winter.

"It's take a lot of blood, sweat and tears," Director Barbara Leonard said. "I know some of us already have over 200 hours in the past two-and-a-half weeks invested in this stand."

The team needs $3,000 to take them across Oklahoma later this year and Leonard said support from the community has been pouring in.

"For example, the other night someone spend $2.50 and gave us a $100 bill and said to keep the change," she said. "I believe all the adults in the stand were crying. That's a lot of money for us."

But the team said it is about more than that, it is about being able to go to games that can be life-changing for some of the children.

"Who is to say what normal is. They have just as many abilities as anyone else," Leonard said. "I never look at it as they have a disability. It's what is their ability, what can they give? I mean all of us somewhere in our lives or in our areas of employment, we lack something, so does that make us have a disability? No. We are all just different. There's not two people alike, so our team is awesome."
