A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9pm Thursday evening.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop along a slow moving cold front. Given the high amount of instability from daytime heating, likely that these storms will contain damaging winds in excess of 50mph+. The storms will diminish in intensity with the loss of daytime heating after 8pm.
The slow movement of the storms will cause locally heavy rainfall with as much as 1″+ in a short amount of time. Flash Flooding will also be a possibility.
Storms looks to really develop around 5pm across Northwest Arkansas and will be moving southeast.
Instability is maximized in NE Oklahoma and NW Arkansas. Washington, Benton, Sequoyah, & Crawford Counties are at greatest risk.
