VAN BUREN (KFSM)- Heavy, unexpected rain came down in Van Buren around 6 p.m. Sunday night (July 5) causing flooding in parts of the city.

The storms dropped nearly six inches of rain in three hours. Some Van Buren residents said the rain came so quickly, the flooding happened almost instantly.

Near the intersection of Broadway and 7th Street, water covered the road making it difficult for cars to get through. Police had to be called in to get stalled cars out of the water.

The intersection of Fourth and Sycamore Streets was blocked after it was covered in nearly 3 feet of rain with several submerged cars in the water.
