TONTITOWN - A Tontitown home was partially destroyed after it went up in flames early Wednesday morning (July 15th).

Dispatchers said the fire at 268 Liberty Avenue began around 2 a.m.

By the time the Tontitown Area Fire Department arrived on scene, flames were shooting out of the roof. Firefighters said about 25% of the home was engulfed with flames at that point.

Crews then called for backup from both the Wheeler and Cave Springs Fire Departments.

One person was inside the home when the fire began; however, firefighters on scene said that person was able to safely escape the burning home without any injuries.

The fire was contained, for the most part, to the back side of the house.  Firefighters on scene said that due to the extensive damage on that side, about 45% of the home was destroyed in the flames; however, they said the front of the house may be salvageable if the homeowner decides to rebuild.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
