BEAVER LAKE (KFSM) - Temperatures across the region hovered in the nineties Sunday (July 19,) and felt even warmer.

The high temperatures gave those near Beaver Lake an extra incentive to jump in the water.

For families like the Moretto’s, the lake is a cheap, yet entertaining, way to spend their weekend.

“It is great family time. The boys love boating. My daughter loves tubing,” said Veronica Moretto, a boater. “It is just time to relax and hang out with the family.”

Originally from California, the Moretto family brought their boat out to the lake, but also spent plenty of time at the beach.

“There are tables out here where you can bring some food and grill, and just have a great time,” Moretto said. “[The kids] can swim in the swim hole, and tube all in the same day. It is great.”

The swim beaches, and grilling, were just a couple things that people were at on Sunday. The Prairie Creek Marina wanted to make sure others remembered that they also have boats for rent.

“We have rental boats that you can rent out and get out on the lake, go swimming and tubing, and stuff like that,” said CW Smith, head deck hand at the marina.

Smith said the summer days have heightened business.

“When everybody gets out here, it’s pretty busy,” Smith said. “Everyone wants to be on the water right now, just to get in the water and cool down.”

Smith said going boating is always a great option for those wanting to hit the lake, even if someone’s swimming skills are limited. Smith added safety is always number one priority at the lake.

“Life vests are always provided on the boats. And, everyone is fitted for them before they go out on the boats,” Smith said.
