FORT SMITH (KFSM) - The Library of Congress is engaged in a project collecting the stories of veterans across the country, and Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark, wants Arkansans who served in war to take part.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Sunday (July 26), anchor Jay Plyburn spoke to Sen. Boozman about this initiative. The U.S. Senator said 1,000 Arkansans have already participated but he's looking to enlist more by setting up two workshops in the state. Boozman also said this project will only help Americans understand the sacrifices veterans make, as his father was a veteran who died at the age of 69.

A workshop is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Those who fought from World War II to the current conflicts are encouraged to attend. Call 501-725-0400 for more information.
