LOWELL (KFSM) – Paul Pillaro, a lieutenant in the Lowell Police Department, has become the third candidate vying to unseat the incumbent, Kelley Cradduck.

Pillaro, who had been mentioned as a potential candidate, confirmed to 5NEWS on Monday (July 27) that he is running.

As first reported by 5NEWS, the other announced candidates are Siloam Springs police Cpl. Tim Filbeck and Glenn Latham, a senior systems administrator at Walmart and former detective in the sheriff’s offices in Benton and Washington counties.

On July 27, Pillaro posted the following on his campaign website, paulpillaro.com:

Dear Benton County residents,

Today, I am happy to announce my candidacy for Sheriff of Benton County. I am committed to make Benton County a safe and better place for the families today and to work with you to set the course in the right direction for our generations to come.

As a Lieutenant at the Lowell Police department, I am honored to serve you, and all that pass through this great town, day in and day out. From the time I gave my first oath to be a servant of the people, to today, my commitment to serve with integrity, respect and to uphold the people’s constitution has not changed.

I have worked my way up the ranks of law enforcement from a patrol officer to my position today, allowing me to better understand the needs of the community and know how to position the sheriff’s department to better align with those needs.

I am your neighbor. As an almost 20 year resident of Benton County, my family was here when most of the county was farm land. We were here through the large growth period and we remained here through the recession years. I met my wife here, got married here and my two teenage girls were born here.

Benton County is my home and I want to work with you as your sheriff, to better protect our community, move us in a direction of moral and fiscally responsible management and address some of the community breaking issues like domestic violence, the growing population of at-risk youth and bring agencies back together for total community support.

I want to work with you to strengthen our community. Please vote for me as your sheriff in 2016.

Thank you,

Paul
