FORT SMITH (KFSM)-Just in time for the start of the new school year, a large children's consignment sale starts Thursday (July 30) in Fort Smith.
Kim Hoelzeman is part of the team behind the Growing Kids Sale, which she said is the perfect back-to-school shopping event for parents who are looking for a bargain.
“You have got gently used things that were inspected as they come in at pennies on the dollar," Hoelzeman said. "So you can come in and outfit your kids for the entire season for very little cost."
The bi-annual sale kicked off Wednesday (July 29) at Kay Rogers Park with an exclusive shopping day for those who donated items. Hoelzman said parents can find everything from bedding to toys and games to clothing for all ages.
Joan Rincon donates to and shops at the Growing Kids Sale and said the event has become a tradition for her and her daughter.
“We sell all of our clothes,” Rincon said. “We save them up. We bring them out, and we come and stock up for the whole season. I usually can buy everything that I need right here.”
Hoelzeman said the consigners make 70% of what they sell, so Rincon said it is a great deal.
“They pick up a check at the end and sometimes everything that they have gotten for the whole season for their kids they can pay for with the check that they received,” Hoelzeman said.
Rincon said she gets all of her daughter's clothes for the upcoming school year plus a few extra fun items for around $200, but the prices are not the only thing that keep her coming back every year.
“For putting in some work I end up with a lot of great things for my daughter, and I also have my closets at home cleaned out,” Rincon said.
The sale will runs through Saturday (August 1) and will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
