(CNN) — Confederate battle flags were found Thursday morning on the grounds of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center in Atlanta, police and church officials said.

Ebenezer Baptist Church is best known as the church where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was baptized and where he, along with his father, served as a pastor. The King Center is a historical site adjacent to the church.

“This act by a cowardly and misguided individual or individuals is provocative to say the least,” said the Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, senior pastor at Ebenezer.

Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said surveillance video shows two white males placing the flags. Turner said Atlanta police are working with federal partners, the National Park Service, Joint Terrorism Task Force and Atlanta’s Homeland Security Unit. Police said they may release the surveillance video to the public.

Described by many as the birthplace of the civil rights movement, the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia have often been at the nexus of race tensions in America, including a successful movement to remove the confederate battle flag from the state flag which had been put there in the 1950s — many say as a symbol of support for segregation and protest against the civil rights movement. The flag was changed in 2001.

“It was disturbing and sickening but, unfortunately, not very surprising. This is the church of Martin Luther King, Jr. We’ve seen this type of ugliness before. Not just in the 1960s, but in recent years as well,” said Warnock.

Here is the problem. When you insist on trashing someone else’s history the don’t expect them to be all warm and fuzzy feeling about that. In fact at some point they might just react very negatively about you wanting to deny that heritage. let’s call it reverse affirmative action.

Yeah, them black folk planted the flags to make those poor heritage-loving folks look bad! They probably lynched themselves, brainwashed that goofy kid into attacking them in the church, and forced – forced, I say! – racist groups to adopt the piece of cloth as their emblem.
Funny, those who claim the flag is only a symbol of their “heritage” should be enraged and having demonstrations against those who commit foul acts while clinging to the flag. INstead, they are angry at those who have been victimized by those same bigots who are waving the flag.

We all feel badly for people like you who are so deeply steeped in liberalism that you can’t grasp the concept or the gravity of what is going on right in front of you.

Liberals support freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, free markets, civil rights, democratic process, separation of church and state and cooperation with the international community. Being liberal doesn’t equate to supporting all liberal views. It’s based on individual interpretation, freedom to choose.
Somewhere in time you lost your way fudpuker. Lost the understanding that being open to freedom and civil rights doesn’t mean you espouse those individual practices.
Moderates and Liberals have more guns combined than Republicans. Shed liberals and break it at Conservative and Moderate, their is only a 5% difference. Reality is Non-republicans hold more guns than Republicans.
You suffer from Dunning-Kreuger. Nor understand the fundamentals of what you so adamantly claim. Life, reality, the truth have passed you by. Leaving a puppet fueled by a propaganda of fear and hate laced with impending doom.

Your egotistical elitist liberal attitude only makes you small. Before you try to diagnose anyone with anything Know tou suffer from a mental disorder that makes you think being condescending is what the so-called minorities want. Actually they despise you for being so arrogant. There is treatment available for you.
